“I am proud of having practiced psychiatry as an out lesbian after living in a deeply non-approving culture for decades, and I am proud of having survived for the years I was a 'not-yet-out' psychiatrist. That was a very painful time. I am proud of the work I did in my profession. The last chapter of my career I was a consult/liaison psychiatrist. I am proud of that work.

I am also proud that my wife and I took advantage of getting married as soon as it became legal—we felt so celebrated.”
